Fifteen Cornwall will open at Watergate Bay near Newquay in south-west England in May 2006. Based on the format of Jamie Olivers popular restaurant, Fifteen, in London, Fifteen Cornwall will inspire disadvantaged young people by offering them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to train and work in a restaurant, supported by professional chefs and college training.An existing restaurant The Beach Hut Bistro will be remodeled and, at the same time, fifteen young people will be trained at Cornwall College in time for the opening. As with Fifteen London, Fifteen Cornwall will be a relaxed yet energetic venue, focusing on using the best seasonal, local produce to create an innovative contemporary menu that will include many of Jamie Olivers signature dishes.
The restaurant will be located at the Extreme Academy, a complex for extreme sports and leisure vacations. Watergate Bay is a resort which includes the recently refurbished Watergate Bay Hotel, offering rooms with beach-chic interiors and contemporary styling. Set beside Cornwalls dramatic coastline and stunning countryside, Watergate Bay is on the Atlantic coast of north Cornwall between the popular towns of Padstow and Newquay.
Cornwall is a county already renowned for the quality of its cuisine with a virtually endless choice of places to enjoy great food, in a diverse range of styles to suit all budgets. For example, another renowned chef, Rick Stein, has established a seafood restaurant, bistro and caf in the nearby town of Padstow. And, at St. Ervan Manor a luxury bed and breakfast in Padstow one of Britains hottest young chefs, Nathan Outlaw heads up a recently opened restaurant; Outlaw trained with Rick Stein and Gary Rhodes, and previous gained a Michelin star at his own restaurant.
